Hello everyone. My name is Amanda. This is my first year at Columbus State, but my second year of college. I was previously at Capital University studying Psychology, but decided to switch to my passion which is early childhood education. I've always been interested in helping others and I have always been drawn to the younger age groups.
I often do not have time for hobbies, although when I can I love to read, but I enjoy working on the computer, creating works such as brochures and advertisements for the office I work for. I have always had a creative mind and so making things that appeal to others really makes me feel proud of my work. I love making organization and work fun while also making it a learning experience. I also enjoy just spending time with my family as much as possible. I love playing with the kids and making up fun games to play.
Growing up in a small suburb of Columbus there wasn't much to do unless you drove somewhere. The only things around were fast food places and five schools. I often found myself playing school instead of with my Barbies. I would take attendance of imaginary students and grade "assignments." I enjoyed creating crafts and fun things to teach myself and my "students." As a teacher I tend to accomplish the goal of teaching my real students while making the experience fun at the same time. Nowadays teachers are trying to create new ways to get technology and hands-on activities in the classroom. I would love to do the same for my students. I think visual learning at a young age will allow them to apply the knowledge while still enjoying themselves in a classroom setting.
